Edit a transaction

Change the date, amount, payee, memo, or other details of an existing transaction.

Prerequisites​

  • Big Picture Money is unlocked
  • At least one transaction exists in the register

Steps​

  1. In the left navigation, click Transactions.
  2. Find the transaction you want to change.
  3. Click Edit on that row (or open the row actions menu and choose Edit).
  4. Confirm Type is Withdrawal or Deposit to match the transaction.
  5. Change Amount (for example, from 42.50 to 45.00 for a withdrawal).
  6. Change Memo (for example, add March bill).
  7. Click Save.

Expected result​

  • The register row shows the updated amount -$45.00
  • The memo column shows March bill
  • The account running balance reflects the new amount
  • After you reload the page or restart the app, the edited values persist

Edit from Chat​

With AI enabled, you can also ask Chat to propose amount, date, payee, or memo changes. Review the preview card and click Apply — the same confirmation idea as editing in the register. See Using AI Chat.
