Choose a report date range

Reports use the same date range presets as Spending, so you can jump to a useful period without typing dates by hand.

Steps

  1. Open Reports and select a report type that uses dates (for example Spending, Income vs expense, Net worth, or Balance over time).
  2. Choose a date range:
    • Current week
    • Current month
    • Last month
    • Last 30 days
    • Last 3 months
    • Year to date
    • Custom range
  3. If you choose Custom range, set From and To (inclusive).
  4. Optionally narrow Accounts.

Defaults

  • Most period reports open on Current month.
  • On the 1st through 4th of a month, they open on Last month instead — so early in a new month you still see a full period of data.
  • Balance over time opens on Last 3 months.

Saved reports

When you Save report, Big Picture Money stores the date range preset (and accounts), not a frozen snapshot of totals. Reopening the saved report recalculates the range from today’s date — for example Last 30 days always means the most recent 30 days.

If you saved a Custom range, the exact From and To dates are restored.

Expected result

  • Choosing a preset updates From and To immediately
  • Editing From or To switches the control to Custom range
  • Reopening a saved report with a named preset shows current dates for that preset
