Issue reporting
Big Picture Money lets you report problems and suggest improvements from inside the app. You do not need a separate account on an external site just to send feedback.
What you can report
| Choice | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Report a problem | Something broke, looks wrong, or does not match what you expected |
| Suggest a feature | A workflow improvement or new capability |
| Report a documentation problem | A help article is wrong, unclear, or out of date |
| Security or privacy concern | A vulnerability or privacy issue — always kept private |
Public by default
Most reports start as public. Public reports help other Big Picture Money users find known issues, add details, and learn when something is fixed.
Before you submit, you can review:
- Whether the report is Public or Private
- The title and description you wrote
- Non-sensitive diagnostics the app includes (version, operating system, build channel, and the page you were on)
- Your contact email (required for follow-up)
Public reports are visible on the public feedback page. Do not include account numbers, passphrases, API keys, full transaction exports, or screenshots with balances or account names.
Keep this private
Choose Keep this private when your report may contain sensitive information — for example screenshots of your finances, import files, or anything you do not want others to see.
Attaching a log always requires a private report. Public visibility is turned off until you remove the log.
Security and privacy concerns are always private.
Your email
You must provide a contact email. Big Picture Money stores it so maintainers can follow up with you. Your email is not posted on the public feedback page.
After you submit
| Kind of report | What you receive |
|---|---|
| Public problem or docs issue | A reference id such as BPM-FEEDBACK-123 and a link to the public feedback page so you can view and monitor it |
| Feature suggestion | A reference id and a link to the public feature discussion |
| Private report | A reference id such as BPM-ISSUE-7 to use when you email support — private status is not shown in the app |
What the app never sends automatically
- Your database file
- Passphrases or bank credentials
- Account balances, transaction lists, or full financial exports
