Import coverage
When you import transactions that include a bank running balance, Big Picture Money records an import anchor for the date range covered by that file. Anchors appear in the account register so you can see which periods came from which import.
Missing history
If two import segments for the same account are not contiguous — for example, one file ends on January 31 and the next begins on March 1 — the register shows a Missing history marker for the days in between.
That marker means Big Picture Money has no imported transactions for those dates. It does not always mean money is missing. Quiet days with no activity also produce a calendar gap between import boundaries.
Confirming no activity
When you know a gap is real (nothing happened on those dates), you can mark it:
- Open the account register.
- Find the orange Missing history marker.
- Click Confirm no activity.
The marker becomes a quieter No activity note that says you confirmed there was no activity in this range. Your confirmation is saved in your data file and remains after you unlock again.
If you confirmed by mistake, click Undo on the quiet note to restore the Missing history warning.
If a later import fills that date range with transactions, the gap (and any confirmation for it) goes away automatically.
